An anniversary card made from the old photo

Paper Plane Post is the best way to send an anniversary card, whether it’s to your partner or to parents and grandparents marking fifty years. The front is a photo you choose, usually an old one, printed edge to edge on a 4 × 6 postcard; the back is your note. We print it and mail it first class for $7, postage included, to any of 195 countries.

It arrives in 1–2 weeks in the US, plus up to 1 week if abroad, so order two weeks before the date for a US address and three weeks before for one abroad.

Easy: the old photo, straight from your phone

Take a picture of the print in the album with your phone, or use a scan if you have one, and upload it. Crop it to the two of them. Type a note of up to 350 characters, add the address, check both sides as they’ll print, and pay once. No app, no account.

A photographed print works fine; a little grain and a white border from the original only make it look more like what it is.

Fast: a few minutes, mailed within two business days

Nothing to set up means the only slow part is choosing the photo. We print and hand the card to USPS within 2 business days. Cards can’t be scheduled for the day itself, so the order is what you time: two weeks ahead in the US, three abroad.

If you’re sending it to your partner at the address you share, it’ll come through your own letterbox. That’s fine. Put it where they’ll find it on the morning.

Tasteful: a photo from the year it started

No hearts, no gold numbers, no printed “Happy Anniversary”. The card is the photo, on heavy gloss stock, with nothing added. For a partner, the picture from the first trip, or the wedding morning before anyone else was awake. For parents or grandparents, the one from their own wedding, or the one of them young that you’ve never seen framed. The illustrated version of the photo is an option if you want it to feel drawn rather than printed.

Choose a photo where they’re looking at each other, not at the camera. It reads differently on a card.

Timeless: the card that joins the album

An anniversary message on a screen is gone by the next morning. A postcard with the photo from thirty years ago goes next to it in the album, and the note on the back becomes part of the record.

Three or four sentences. Say what you remember about the day the photo was taken, say what’s still true, and sign it. For parents: “Found this one in the box. Forty years on and you still look at her like that. Happy anniversary from all of us.”
